Peyto Lake

I'm frequently asked about my images of this lake... "was it really that color?" Absolutely yes! I had heard about the intense color of this lake and had to see it for myself. When I crested the last hill to where I could see the lake I was stunned by the color. The color is caused by what's called glacial flour. Its the silt that the glaciers carry down and deposit in the lake. In late summer/early autumn the water level is the lowest and the glacial flour is intensified. Hence, this extremely colorful image of this tremendously beautiful lake.
