2007-07-07 Francis Marion National Forest - "Yellow" day...

2007-07-07 Day trip to the Francis Marion National Forest turns out to be a "Yellow" day. I actually went down to the Francis Marion to photograph Aletris aurea (Golden Colicroot) for a project that I'm working on. To my surprise, I found several other yellow items that I thought were interesting enough to photograph. The Platanthera cristata was about a month early for that location -- in fact, I saw them in only one particularly wet site. I checked on my favorite Epidendrum magnoliae site just to see how they were coming along, and WOW! they were in full bloom! Sorry for the lousy photography of the Epidendrum, but they were twenty feet up in a live oak and I did not have a long lens.
