CUTE COOT OR MOORHEN ?

Godmanchester England

This is the least skitish coot or moorhen (I don,t know) I have seen, in this shot he has just seen a Black Lab about ten feet away, and I'm about that as well and he let me get 6 shots and did not mind me walking about, I just hope he does have a strong sence of true danger or he will not last very long.

Checking in my RSPB Book of British Birds, I'd say this is definitely a moorhen. I recommend the book if you're interested in birds, btw.

I know one has a red beak and the other is white but could never remember which was which. I now use this as a reminder - Moorhen has an R in the name and a Red beak, therefore Coots have a white beak.
Which means this a Moorhen.
