My guide told me it'll take 5 hours... but we ended up taking 7 hours to travel from Lhasa to Gyantse, which is 270 km west of Lhasa...
But it was an amazing road trip... we went up to the peak of Mt Kangbala (4990 metres) and from there, had a stupendous view of the highest altitude plain-water lake, Yamdrok-Yumso... it was so windy up there that it could blow a person off the mountain... had a ball of a time up there...
Very grateful to my driver who decided to take the uncompleted road to Gyantse, rather than the tar-roads... it's winter and the Chinese Army has stopped work on the roads... the driver took a gamble to drive via these unfinished bumpy roads... the ride was bumpy for a good 3 hours... but the view was something different from the smoother roads...
