Bordertown Wildlife Park

Bordertown is a small inland town in the east of South Australia, close to the border with Victoria and about a 3 hour drive from Adelaide.

The Bordertown Wildlife Park is famous for its colony of white kangaroos, which are not albino but a genetic strain of the Western Grey kangaroo.

The kangaroos were in a fenced enclosure, so luckily I had a step-ladder with me so I could see over the top and avoid having to look through the wire mesh.

Bordertown is also the birthplace of former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke.

they need to re-populate Australia with White Kangaroo's so i can shoot one tan the hide and use it for a floor mat!

I would like to know who takes care of these beautiful animals as I visited last week and was appalled by the state of their ears which were so badly fly bitten that part of the ear on some had been eaten away. I am seriously concerned and would appreciate a response.

the white kangaroo is sacred to the Aboriginal people. the original one came from up towards Wilcannia originally, after being taken from its dead mother, after a night roo shooting by local yahoo's from the Tatiara area.

I am doing research on kangaroos and these white ones are just beautiful. Lets hope that they are not shot like the 3.5 million being shot at this moment. Great pics.

Such a nice gallery. Love the kangaroo shots in the flower field! This is the first time I have seen a white kangaroo. Voted.
