Comparison of Canon EF 50mm F1.8 II to EFS 17-85mm IS

Some tests shots taken straight from camera with no post processing. I perceive the pictures from the 17-85mm lens as having more contrast, better saturation, and more detail. At F5.6, the zoom lens is sharper than the prime. The prime is pretty awful at F1.8. Autofocus was used, with the focus point set inside the blue rectangles on the right.
