North Carolina 2003

Bakersville, in Mitchell County, North Carolina,
is named for my 4th great grandfather David Baker. It hosts
a Rhododendron Festival every June and, this year, my sister Kacy
and I went down to see what the area was like.

Sigh... it's gorgeous...

Replying to Martha's question: "was the old house, a Baker house in time?" Nope, just a joke on my part. Gorgeous country, isn't it? My line of descent is from David through son Martin, whose youngest daughter Martha Louisa Baker was my great great grandmother.

Judy, It was nice seeing you again, I really enjoy the 2007 Memorial at the Baker Cemetery on the hill this past year and the tour of the Old CourtHouse it was very interesting. The Pictures were very nice. was the old house, a Baker house in time? just woundering. I liked the pictures, I hope we can contine to get togther the 3 rd. Sunday in September each year for a Memorial to our ancestors. Their my 4th back Generations of Baker's. My Great-Grandfather Jesse Baker and Wife Sarah Gilden Baker & Family came to Georgia and there are alot of decendants here in the North Georgia mountains and also in Murphy North Carolina.

WONDERFUL PICS. MY BROTHER STANLEY BAKER HAS BEEN RESEARCHING OUR GREAT GRANDFATHER FOUR GENERATIONS BACK DAVID BAKER AND THEN HE FOUND YOUR PICS BEAUTIFUL AND AWESOME. BREATH TAKING. MY NAME IS GWENDA BAKER WIZNER I LIVE IN ORANGEVALE CA. SO LOVED THE PICS MY BROTHER IS IN MESQUITE TEXAS. WHERE A BUNCH OF THE BAKERS FINALLY SETTLED.

It really is astounding to be in a place where your own ancestors walked and lived and worked... and to know that you're seeing much the same thing that they saw...

Judy,loved the tour,the pictures are breath taking. When you were standing there by the waterfall or on the top of the mountian,couldn't you just feel your family right there beside you and think of what they must have felt when they were looking at the same things,so long ago. Thank you,they are beautiful.
