Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument – Montana

Images of Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument and the Real Bird reenactment on the 142 anniversary of the battle – Southern Montana, taken in June 2018.

On June 25, 1876 the US 7th Cavalry, led by Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer, clashed with the overpowering forces of the Lakota (led by Lakota Chief Sitting Bull) and Cheyenne (led by Cheyenne Chief Two Moon) Indian tribes in one of most memorialized Indian battles in US history.

The Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument honors the fallen US soldiers and their Indian Nation counterparts and the Real Bird Reenactment provides a history lesson spelling out the issues leading up to the event as well as the battle itself.
