Navajo National Monument – Arizona

Tucked into Tsegi Canyon the cliff dwellings at Navajo National Monument were built between 1250 and 1300 and were occupied for approximately 50 years. The easily accessible Betatakin dwellings are one of many well preserved dwellings in the park; the other primary dwellings, Keet Seel and Inscription House are reachable only by guided tour.

Coming from Page where the weather was clear and warm, I arrived at the park under cold and rainy skies; luckily the trail to the Betatakin dwellings overview was relatively short and paved. The dwellings are nestled in the canyon wall and the view is spectacular, worth the short trek through the rain.
