I had a chance to experience the wonders of one the biggest festivals in all of the U.S. yesterday at this year's MD Sheep and Wool Festival. This festival is held every year in Howard County, Maryland at their fairgrounds. I think I heard yesterday that they having been putting this festival for some 35 years now.
The place is overwhelming in its colors, smells and sensations. As you look upon all this raw wool and other raw materials for spinning, knitting, crocheting, etc., you find yourself being blinded by color and craving to touch it all. Sometimes I did touch and was almost shocked at the difference in textures that surrounded me. I was *so* close to buying a big piece sheep skin...it was one of the softest things I have ever touched in my life. I had to make myself stop!!
I went to the festival with three friends who are big into the whole spinning/knitting hobby. I was along for the photo ops and the sheep dog (border collies) demonstrations. These are some of the photos from the day. Enjoy!
