This is my trip up to Prudhoe bay. Imagine going from Atlanta to St Louis with nothing in between but 1 gas station. It is desolate, but people are around if you need help. It is dusty, and occasionally muddy where road work is being done, but all in all not too bad. I like Prudhoe bay and the Hotel is one of the bargains on earth if you do not mind sharing a room. The Scenery is unique and should not be missed. I had to forgoe the dip in the Arctic Ocean, the ones that did it were headed to a hot shower and a plane trip south. I had to ride. There was lots of smoke from forest fires and I was stopped on the way north. It was at night and I could not see where I was going. The next day you could see fire burning on both sides of the road, but it was just smoldering. August is great for weather, but late for the fires.
