A city park transformed from an abandoned elevated rail-line in lower west Manhattan is interesting in itself, but even more so as a vantage point for photographing the surrounding streets, buildings, and Hudson River to the west. Remnants of track and tunnels through buildings lend interest to the two-mile long linear park. Railroad ties and track bed are now paved with wood and concrete, punctuated with whatever vegetation nature planted since 1980. That is when the last freight train rumbled into cavernous factories to discharge cargo. It's a lovely place for a late afternoon stroll. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joseantonio --This "park"and neighborhood is not on the normal tourist path. It is only a year or two old, and most New Yorkers do not know about it. Perhaps on your fourth visit you can show it to some New Yorkers!.
