As far as candid portraits of the anonymous man/woman in the street is concerned, this picture is one of my personal favourites to-date. I was walking around Chinatown in the late afternoon, and came across this young lady having a drink by herself at one of the watering holes there, seated at a table facing the street. I took this shot of her from behind a row of roadside stalls on the other side of the street, as she relaxed in her own space of peace and calm amidst (and oblivious to) the hustle and bustle of the street activities around her, enjoying her bottle of beer and cigarette alone, unwinding from the day's hassles for sure. The overhead awning cast a pale shadow on her face, while her arms and body were bathed by the golden light of the late afternoon sun, which accentuated the contrast and mood of the picture.
