The women of the Padaung ethnic minority group of Burma traditionally wear brass coils around their necks to make them appear elongated. In reality, the heavy coils depress their collarbones, creating the illusion of a longer neck. Not many of them who still wear the brass coils are left in Burma today, we were told that most have moved to Thailand.
