Thanks for dropping by. When I saw your pictures of the Silver Cave in Guilin on WIS, I also thought they looked very similar to the JiuXiang caves. Both are karst caves, and both are colorfully lighted up with clever lightings.
Lijiang is a gem of a place to visit. It is amazing, right, that the ancient buidings of the old town survived the 1996 earthquake intact, while so many of the surrounding modern buildings were destroyed!

Indeed, the caves were cleverly lit by colorful lightings to accentuate the grotesque shapes and forms of the karst rockscape. I am glad that I was able to capture the scenes as they looked, even though I was without a tripod (thanks to Canon's IS technology and great performance (low noise) at ISO of the Digital Rebel XT).
