Wanfenglin is a unique and visually striking area of karst mountain landscape, located along the lower reaches of the Maling River valley and near to Xingyi. The word Wanfenglin in Chinese literally means 'Forest of Ten Thousand Peaks', and you will understand why once you see the scenery of the area. The ancient Chinese geologist Xu Xiake wrote in his travel journal, "There are countless mountain peaks on earth, but only the peaks here (in Wanfenglin) stand together to form peak forests. Stretching for hundreds of kilometres, Wanfenglin or Ten Thousand Peak Forest is a natural wonder in southwest China".
