My Porsche (August 2005)

A car is an extremely difficult thing to photograph. We see them all the time, their shapes are extremely familiar and there are a limited number of different colours and a relatively modest number of different models at any one time. They say that familiarity breeds contempt. Although I've never subscribed to this point of view, but on the subject of car photography. I can see their point. How does one avoid cliches?

One of the very worst cars in the world to photograph is a 911. It's iconic, and one of the most photographed cars in the world. How many boys in the 1980s had a huge poster of a red 911 turbo, complete with leery whale tail, on their wall? Still, people manage it, and some manage it extremely well. My favourite photographer of cars on pbase is Stefan Marjoram, and his 911 gallery is one of the best. I encourage you to view his galleries. I also hope you like mine.

For the record, this is a 1997 model 993 targa. Specification geeks can look it up on flat-6.net...
