To get North, we actually headed South today, at least for a little while. Jan and Danny were lovely hosts. The blueberry-filled French toast was delicious. We backtracked down the Coast along the scenic three-cape loop. As things are never fully experienced from behind a windshield, we got out for a pleasant five mile hike along the Cape Lookout Scenic Hike. The journey through the lush forest ended at an incredible perch above the Pacific. Unfortunately (and fortunately), it was an out-and-back trail which required the same walk back trough the forest in order to return to our car.

A drive back up the Coast landed us in the “family-oriented” town of Seaside. But, first, we made a stop at Canon Beach, the home of the famous Haystack Rock. This formation was quite impressive, even though there were no climbs on it! I was quite sad that this was our last stroll on the immensely wide beaches of the Oregon Coast. Tomorrow, we head to Astoria for a history and culture-filled day of exploration.
