My mom didn't want to be photographed. She said that she didn't have any make-up on, her hair was a mess, and that she was only wearing silly clothes.
I went to visit my parents today for dinner. We now live very close. There was a time when we lived 3000 miles apart. Still, it is a rare occasion when our schedules match up. Partially it is due to hard work (Dad and I have quite hectic schedules). But, partially, it is due to laziness (we can each make more of an effort to make these times a priority).
I think back through the years and that is one thing that Mom has always done...make her children a priority. When we wanted to be busy, she always made that possible. She has always made our feelings a priority as well, despite my failing to realize that until later at times. Here is another situation. Mom didn't exactly want to be photographed but yet she gave me a wonderful smile so I could make my portrait for today.
And, today, I think she looked beautiful.
