A selection of images taken around the island of Lindisfarne, also known as Holy Island. This peaceful site on the Northumberland coast was once home to the Venerable Bead and also the scene of blood thirsty Viking raids. Today it is a beautiful, peaceful location reached by a causeway and is cut off by the sea at high tide. The village ruined abbey and castle make it a well known tourist site.
