A series of images taken early evening at Herrington Country Park near Sunderland, This was for a hundred years the site of deep shaft coal mine with a huge waste heap and then recently an open cast/strip mine. Now it has been reclaimed and has been transformed into a well used leisure facility. It is overlooked by the adjacent Penshaw Hill with its Monument.
