Shots taken between late February and late April 2006 in the countryside around the city of Durham in England. Most of the images were taken around the old village of Cassop and also around the Ludworth/Haswell area, with a few from the river Wear at Fatfield. The last location has not actually been part of County Durham since a government reorganization of the 1970s.

Hi Mr Barrs,
I am making a study of Northumberland and Durham natives who went to America or the Caribbean before 1750. I wonder if you have anything interesting on your ancestors?
Best wishes,
John Charlton, Newcastle UK.

Congratulations on a great Website. The pictures are clear and crisp and appropriate. I was researching my Bell family history, who immigrated to America in the 1600s and traced them back to Durham County. I always try to learn something about the places my ancestors lived and search for how they lived, worked, married and died. Thanks! Al Barrs Greenwood, Florida USA; e-mail albarrs@wfeca.net, descendant of George Bell born 1630 in Durham County. His father was Richard Bell born about 1605 and his grandfather was George Bell born 1576, his great grandfather was about 1530 and his g-g grandfather was born in 1490 in Scotland or England.
