As we left the cafeteria after lunch today, we heard a squirrel on top of a roof nearby that was making a lot of noise, but didn't see anything that might be the problem. When we turned the corner, we saw a huge hawk in the middle of the busy road (stopping traffic) with a squirrel in its talons. When the cars blew their horns, it tried to fly away but couldn't go very far because of the weight of the squirrel - it landed on the grass in front of our building. It then started eating the squirrel while we (and many others) stood around and watched - people stopped their cars and got out to watch too! (We're pretty sure that it picked up the squirrel on the roof and then just glided down because the rodent was too heavy to lift.) Fortunately, I had my SD800 in my pocket (as usual).
