South Bend lathe home made milling attachment

I wanted basic milling capability and after seeing how much milling attachments cost on e-bay, I decided to make one myself. While it is not as sturdy as the factory made adapters, it has done well for me and for the aluminum parts I am making for my motorcycle (see other galleries)

I had a small Unimat milling table...	Made an aluminium "tool post"	Mounted the milling table to the tool post	Mounted a milling cutter in the chuck. This worked but lacked up and down travel
I had one of those which I seldom used...	So I cut the vise off and flattened the slide on the lathe and...	Drilled and tapped it to accept the small milling table	Milling table mounted on the slide
Made an aluminium plate to mate the vise to the toll post	Finished product	Lathe milling attachment mounted on the lathe	Milling test pieces, works fine with light cuts.
