Although these people were indeed shielding their eyes from the sun, they were also in deep emotional pain.
It was obvious from the sounds that I could hear.
I hesitated even taking the picture -- it seemed like such an intense personal moment.
But then I realizied that I could totally relate to their suffering (whatever it's cause).... and so could probably anyone else who viewed the picture.
We are all human. We've all been there at one time or another and because of that, we can now offer compassion.
