These were taken just after sunrise from about 36000 feet over the American southwest, using a Canon Digital Rebel and a Canon 28-135 IS lens. These images were shot in RAW and corrected heavily in Photoshop as 16 bit TIFFs. The originals suffered from very narrow dynamic range as a result of shooting through about ten diagonal miles of air. Moreover, the higher air was getting a lot of direct light and thus giving a lot of blue scatter, whereas the targets were still in sunrise-red light. Finally, aircraft windows are not made of Canon L glass. Some of the images exhibit distortions, particularly at the bottom edge. A polarizing filter might have helped with the scatter, but mine was unavailable. The 'original' size images here are 50% downsized (25% of original pixels) to save storage space.
