Kolob Canyon is in the Northwest portion of Zion, and is accessible via a road coming in from exit 40 on I-15. It is a far less crowded portion of the park as most visitors never come up here. We took a hike on the Middle Fork Taylor Creek Trail. It leads to what is called Double Arch Alcove, which is well worth the 5 mile round trip hike. Do note that they tell you the trail makes a "few" creek crossings. Well, I think 63 is far more than a few! :) However, the creek was very low and there were plenty of rocks to step on while crossing. Janet didn't take the hike as the initial steps from the parking lot down to the trail were gravel and very slippery. She fell once and decided to enjoy a rest in the car instead. After the hike, we drove to the end of the road, at Kolob Canyons Viewpoint and took a number of photos there and on the way back.
