I put this and the next image at the start of the actual cavern photos to illustrate the differences in color that lighting provides. It is difficult to say what are the 'true' colors in the cavern because to be honest, the true color of everything in the cavern is 'black', since without some form of artificial lighting, there is no light in the caverns! As someone suggested to me on the D70 forum at dpreview http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/forum.asp?forum=1034), my photos are a mixture long exposures using just the lights in the cavern (mix of incandescent and florescent), and others, still with long exposures, but with added flash. There are also a few with just flash. Anyway, after all that, this image uses just the pak service provided lighting while the next image adds flash!
