Though you can't really tell in the image, there is a significant drop off just ahead of the bushes in front of me. There were about 5 Musk Ox in the group. The small gravel road is part of a network of similar ones, blocked by gates that are for checking on the pipeline.

Here I am using the 500 mm F4 lens that I rented, with a 1.4x extender, making it essentially a 700 mm lens! Also, that is the Sagavanirktok River (referred to as the "Sag" river) behind the Musk Ox. Our sightings the day before had the Musk Ox on the other side of it. There were numerous entries in Milepost stating to watch along the Sagavanirktok River for Musk Ox, and they were right on!
