Near Churchill, Cananda

The first night at the tundra buggy lodge, at around 3:20 AM, someyou let everyone know that there were Northern Lights. So, we jumped out of bed, put on slippers or boots, our parkas, and gloves and went out to see them. My camera gear was in the buggy, so in the dark with a small flashlight I tried to put change lenses, set up my camera and tripod. To do so, I had to remove my gloves. My hands started freezing very fast, but I got the lens mounted. With gloves on, I tried to set up my travel tripod, but in the freezing cold (30 to 40 below C), a leg literally fell off of it! So, then I just put the camera on a bean bag, on Aperature setting pointed at the sky and fired a few shots! I'm not sure if the focus was off or it was just the 9 second exposure or both, but they look blurry to me. I was actually surprised that I got anything at all! I was so cold that after that I hoped no one would see Norther Lights again as I was forzen for the rest of the night! Just viewing them and ignoring the camera was awesome though and the green color is right for most though we did see some red and much that was almost white, and they slowly moved around, sort of like waves.
