Wisconsin - Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, September 2017
On our drive from Voyagers NP to where we would catch the ferry to Isle Royale NP, Copper Harbor, MI, we stayed in Ashland, WI. Since it would only be about a 5 hour drive the next day, we decided to check out Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. On the way to Ashland, we took the scenic route so we could see the area up on near Apostle Islands NL, and even stopped at Meyers Beach briefly so Janet could put her feet in Lake Superior (unfortunately, it was getting late so we did not have time to hike down to the Sea Caves here). She quickly found out it was very cold! The next morning, I took a boat tour of the islands while Janet stayed in town to look around. The boat tour did not go all the way out to Devils Island as it normally does because the waves were too high, but it was an interesting tour anyway. We saw the two lighthouses on Michigan Island and sea cliffs on Otter Island.
