A prescribed burn in Yosemite National Park obscures the sunset and lays a blanket of dark smoke over the park. A prescribed burn is a carefully controlled fire which was intentionally set to reduce flammable material collecting on the forest floor. These controlled fires will reduce the risk of dangerous wildfires and will help maintain optimal vegetative and wildlife conditions.
