J. Seward Johnson Jr's "The Awakening" is more commonly referred to as "The Giant." It is located at Hains Point, the southern tip of East Potomac Park at the confluence of the Potmac River, the Washington Channel and the Anacostia River. Popular with children, "The Awakening" depicts a huge bearded man struggling to rise from under the ground.
I really like the compositions of your shots on "The Awakening." You've motivated me to move beyond my 15 mile radius in Centreville, VA and make another trip into DC...braving the traffic!
