I live in San Diego by Lake Murray and saw one today. Only the second time in four years. Kinda rare and elusive around here.

Thanks for the site, now I too, know this bird is a hooded oriole. I see him each spring/summer passing through here in Riverside.

Just saw this beauty in our tree in San Clemente CA - it was big and beautiful!! Didn't know what it was until I found this site!

We saw two in our backyard in Mission Viejo, checking out our tomato plants, in the early evening.

Thank you for letting us view your pictures. I also live in Apple Valley and we have been getting these beautiful male hooded Orioles for the past six years from March through Septemer at our hummingbird feeders. We also see the female which I believe have a yellow-green color. They have nests in my neighbor's large palm trees.

I live in the high desert town of Apple Valley, CA. and I just saw one of these birds enjoying my birdbath. First time seeing one and thanks to your photo, I now now what type of bird it was.

In Sherman Oaks, CA. Saw two of them at different times. One tried to sip from the hummingbird feeder. Absolutely beautiful.

This sure looks like the bird I saw in my yard (Temescal Valley, CA) carefully inspecting my tomato plants. At first I thought it was an escaped pet until I saw a hummingbird that seemed to be traveling with him. Just beautiful. Hope he returns.
