The Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge is located in Boynton Beach, Florida and contains ove 221 square miles of open marsh areas and cyprus swamps. Loxahatchee NWR provides habitat and protection for endangered and threatened wildlife such as the American alligator, snail kite and wood stork. It is also a temporary home for a variety of migratory birds and year-round residents such as herons, egrets, and ibis.
