QE2 scrapbook

In late November, 2008, the veteran Cunarder QE2 arrived in Dubai and was turned over to her new owners. After a two-year refit she'll become a floating hotel, docked at the massive man-made island Palm Jumeirah. Her 36+ years make her Cunard's longest-serving ship, and in that time she logged over 5 million miles, or the equivalent of over 200 trips around the world.
 
Most of these photos were taken with a "Disc" camera in 1985 and scanned from 20-some year old prints. The quality isn't always the best. But I thought they were worth sharing, and if you're a fan of passenger ships or specifically the QE2, I hope you'll agree. hi this is a long shot but does anyone know a Trevour Sherlock he worked on the QE2 in 1980/81, within the hospitality department , think he could have been a waiter/ any help would be great thanks.

Bartended on her from 1987 to 1989 in all the Public Bars, best time of my life with so many wonderful memories of places I visited and crew I worked with some of whom I've reconnected with on Facebook after all these years.

lets hope this grand old lady has a long and happy retirement . I was lucky enough to see her birth here in Clydebank when I was 7 years old . What a day .

I live close to her home port of Southampton, UK and was fortunate enough to cruise aboard her in July of this year. The decor, furnishings and computers have changed somewhat, but she's a fabulous old lady and will be sadly missed. Great pictures.

The QE2 got to New York, I got back to Hayling Island alive, we were both very happy. My passenger was in a state of shock all day. That was his first trip in a small boat, and his last.

I once raced the QE2 out of the Solent, I was in a 13 foot speedboat. You will not believe how big the QE2 looks from 20 yards away at 30mph. Luckily I survived and never did anything so stupid again, at least not in a small boat.
