In the thirteen winters I've lived here, the pond has always frozed and thawed repeatedly through the winter. This year it froze in early
December and hasn't thawed once. It seems like it's finally ready to thaw in the next few days.

Thats cold, thats very cold, I would be very close to being D.E.D. with all that cold. Hope you get an extra warm spring to compensate.
