Atlantic

New York City

Home Lines' Atlantic returning from Bermuda in 1988. That year Holland America bought Home
Line -- rather, bought the Homeric and sold off the less popular Atlantic. Atlantic sailed
for Premier for 9 years, then joined MSC in 1997 as the MSC Melody.

Notably, on April 25,2009, the Melody was attacked by Somali pirates. Passengers and crew
successfully repelled the attack and the ship suffered minor damage.

Entered service 1982 | 35,142 Gross Tons/671 feet long

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Thank you for the pictures of the Atlantic. We sailed her a couple of times when it was Premier. We recognized the Captain from another cruise and he invited us to the Captain's table for dinner. Neat guy.

A neat point of view to show the pilot assisting the Mother Ship.
Another question.. do the crews of cruise ships arm themselves for protection from pirate raids?

Ok, dumb question. Is this just a cruise liner or an actual working ship?
