Pompeii is a striking place. The houses and streets are so well preserved, it seems that they don't date from 2000 years back, but 200 years at most. What struck me most is how modern the place looks. Vesuvius is still menacingly present in the background. Ironically, the vulcano that preserved this Roman town for us to see, might one day destroy that same site.
