Silver Fern

Murrays Bay, Auckland, NZ

One of the things I love about New Zealand
is its lush greenery and the many native bush
and forests that can often be seen throughout the country.
I am particularly drawn to Ferns.
New Zealand has around 164 different fern species
many of which are endemic, that means they are common to NZ.
Tree ferns can grow to 10 meters in height, with fronds as long as 3 meters.

Hi Janice and thanks for visiting my galleries, it reminded me to re-visit yours.

I found out that we have a love of ferns in common. Do you know that I travelled as far as it is possible from London mainly to see the tree ferns that grow wild in NZ? Loved the country and the people, but hated the long flight. :))
