Not so rare in Whangarei, Northland. Just seen a great specimen at the Whangarei Quarry Gardens, 37A Russell Rd., a Subtropical Community Oasis built by volunteers over the last 20 years. Now open with great cafe. What an amazing flower, a bit weird. Other very rare trees and shrubs, African, Silk Floss Tree from S.America,Crown of Thorns from Madagascar. Worth a visit. They are on Facebook. WWW.whangareigardens.org.nz Open 7 days.Large lake, waterfalls and streams. Walks and picnic spots. Love it!
