Today was Memorial Day in the United States
A day for us to honor those who died in battle
As I looked at our flag being displayed all over town
I started to think about the meaning of the flag
The thirteen stripes represents the original thirteen colonies
The fifty stars represents the fifty states
Maybe on this day the red and white stripes
Should stand for all the wars we have been in and
All the blood that has been shed
And the stars….even if each star stood for 10,000 people
That still would not be enough to cover the loss of life from war
If I had one wish on this day to honor our fallen heroes
It would be that not one more life was lost in the name of war

Thank you to all the Veterans who are still with us
And to those who paid the ultimate price
