Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 Test

After an eye opening experience in which I mounted my Canon 17-40 f4L on my EOS 650 (formerly it had only been mounted on my 20D), I fell in love with the wide angle possibilities. A trip to my local Calumet and $500 later I now have the equivalent FOV on my 20D. How does it stack up? You be the judge!

Thanks for the comparisons and analysis! I'm currently lusting for this lens and checking out some of its pictures on PBase. Your pics aren't helping my lust. I just might have to buy it soon! I currently use photo-stitching software to make wide shots, and this lens would do it with one exposure. :)

It's too bad no one makes a simple 10mm rectilinear prime lens. I want the most width possible. The zoom feature almost seems unnecessary. It could be cheaper, sharper and have a wider aperture.

Hi James. It's digital only, but a 17-40 will give you the equivalent FOV on your 35mm.

I would like to get a 10-20 but I shoot digital and 35mm....is this lens full frame for 35mm?

Thanks for the pictorial lens test. I did a search on the wedding forum looking for just such a test on the Sigma 10-20. I think it will be great for my boat weddings!

Great pictures, especially the 17 vs. 10 image. I'm saving up for this lens, my 17-40 isn't wide enough and the 8mm is too fishy. lol

Have you tried it on full frame yet? It will vignette but above 11.5 mm it will be fine.
