Lesser Nighthawk Chicks

We were taking a walk in the desert behind our place when a adult Lesser Nighthawk suddenly flew away from under a cholla cactus right next to us.
When the adult Nighthawk started to fly away it was acting like it was injured which usually means there is a nest close by and that she was trying to draw us away.
I slowly knelt down to look under the cholla cactus and was surprised to see two very young Nighthawks chicks. They blended into the desert floor
so well that you could walk right by and not even see the chicks. I did not want to stay very long so I took some pictures and backed away to leave them alone.
