Mr. Warren Woods and help from Lori Grott who both work at the Redwood Hearing Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada donated a set of hearing aids for my friend Cristian's nephew in the Dominican Republic. I had met Cristian about a year ago and became good friends with him very quickly. Things in the Dominican Republic are not easy to say the least. Cristian made a comment one day that he was worried about his nephew, who is now 18 and has been slowly losing his hearing since the age of two, was not going to be able to continue with school or have much luck in finding any work at all due to his hearing loss.
I made a mention that maybe someone could help and I contacted the Redwood Hearing Centre and they were more than happy to find and supply a set of hearing aids. They are quite expensive and actually cost the same in the DR as they do in the Dominican but people in Canada make about $200 a month. The hearing aids would cost over $2000 there.
The family is overjoyed that now Evansy is able to hear the phone, hear people talk to him or call him from a different room in the house, and is now going to be able to advance his education. He is far behind but can now make many advances in school.
I want to thank Mr. Warren Wood and Lori Grott for their generosity. I only had to mention the situation and things started to happen. Evansy received the hearing aids this October 2005 and has made a change in his life as well as the families.
