Majora Carter is well known on the East Coast of the US for her civil rights activism. She was chosen to carry the Olympic torch, which she did but shortly after receiving the torch she pulled out a small Tibetan flag she had tucked under her sleeve. Immediately she was pulled from the run by the Chinese torch guards and the local San Francisco police, the torch was taken away and she was shoved into the crowd.
Majora stated she was happy her expression of solidarity with the Tibetan cry for independence and peace were seen.
