Thankfully no one was in the house or was injured as it burned to the ground. The Kolonia Fire Department responded as well as the fire department from the airport.

A kerosine stove was tipped over, which ignited some nearby gasoline. From there the fire spread and was out of control with the fire department unable to hook up their fire hoses due to the lack of an operational fire hydrant and for one hose, the lack of a fitting. Two cars were destroyed, the families belongings and a roof to shield them from the almost daily rain of this island.

It is hoped that people will take note and be more careful with fuels that are often used here for cooking and gasoline engines.
