Striberg

Striberg and its surroundings has a very long mining history, where the current mine facilities were built in 1949-1954 with a state-of-the-art mix of concrete and sprayed aerated concrete blocks. The mine was closed in 1967 at a point where the yearly production was around 250,000 metric tons. The ore stock was then slowly emptied and the last ore train left as late as 1974.

Like so many other abandoned mines, Striberg today show a late stage of decay.
