The cableway design comprises four separate perfectly straight-lined sections and a change in direction can only occur at the section stations. Each section has a continuous and endless drive wire which is driven by a 100kW electric motor. The "central station" at Malmberga has the drive for the two middle sections, whereas the northern section Köping-Granhammar is driven from Köping and the southern section Knotberget-Forsby is driven from Forsby.
