Basttjärn (or Bastkärn as it sometimes is referred to) mine was closed in 1978. The mine's headframe was a tall and elegant concrete building, far different to the fast built ones from the late 1950s. Today, only the foundations and some debris is seen on the site, as the headframe and adjacent buildings were blasted short after the mine's closure.
